Your electronics will become one

In the past few years we have seen the marriage of many electronics with other electronics or computers.  We have DVD and Blu-Ray players that can play all kinds of different formats or get information and movies streaming from the internet.  We have had the marriage of set top boxes with computers to stream music, pictures and video.  With the introduction of the next generation game consoles they do more than just play video games.

Now Adobe is putting flash on new TVs.  Some TVs already connect with software to the internet, this is just going a step forward to standardization and is very exciting.  All the products we have will combine all kinds of technologies.

The real challenge will be coming out with a standard that allows every device to talk to every other device.  I don't know if this will happen, but it would be a great advantage for device makers.  Sun Microsystems, bought by Oracle today, proposed this technology years ago.  Maybe it is time to revisit the technology.
